AGM – AGM is a word used when describing a characteristic of heavy duty batteries and is an acronym for ‘Absorbent Glass Matt’. In AGM batteries the acid inside is absorbed into a glass matt material, meaning there is no liquid splashing around inside. This makes them safe, as there is no risk of acid spillage. You can seal them, so they are applicable high movement environments (e.g. on a boat). And it also makes them low maintenance, as you dont need to top up the liquids in the battery, like a traditional lead acid battery.
