How To Turn Camping Into Glamping - 10 Things You Make Your Next Camping Trip Luxurious

What is glamping?

Glamping is a short term for “glamorous camping”. It’s where nature connects with modern luxury. Glamping is a type of camping where you will have the chance to see the world’s most unique and entirely distinct places while maintaining all your creature comforts.

Who founded glamping?

Glamping has existed way longer than most of us would think. It initially started in the 16th century in Scotland, although it wasn’t termed as such during that time.

It was found out that Earl Atholl was the first person to have organized a glamping experience for King James V, as well as his mother.  Earl purchased the most high-end tent and furnished it with items from his own palace.

It was during the year 2005 that the term glamping was coined in the United Kingdom, and it wasn’t until 2016 that it was formally added in the Oxford English Dictionary.

What is the point of glamping?

As the name implies, this is for those people who enjoy the concept of camping and being with nature but prefer not to sleep on the cold, hard ground. It’s a means of transforming a primitive camping trip into a modern, luxurious one by making an extra effort to bring the comforts of home into the woods.

What is the differences between camping and glamping?

Glamping is technically camping but with a touch of glamour. Traditional camping means typically carrying a tent to a secluded location and building a temporary shelter. All you have is yourself, a sleeping bag, and a tent.

Glamping, on the other hand, allows you to appreciate all that nature has to offer without sacrificing that cozy, homey feeling. It’s more of taking that extra mile to have a more comfortable and unique experience in the great outdoors.

How to go form camping to glamping?

Glamping is one of the best ways to make the most out of a camping trip. It’s definitely a worthwhile experience. Here is everything you need to know about transforming your camping experience into glamping.

Be creative with lighting

To create a relaxing ambiance, make that extra effort to invest in good lighting and install fixtures. Things like fairy lights, for example, provide a warm ambiance. Solar-powered lanterns are also an excellent choice, and battery-powered lighting is widely available. Since it can get dark in the woods, the more lights there are, the better.

Cook fancy foods

To be more glamorous, you can bring a cooler and cast iron to prepare great front-country meals. A multi-burner stove is also an excellent choice to deal with the preparation of complicated meals.

Making each individual prepare a meal and seeing who can come up with the most imaginative outdoor cooking ideas is a fun, challenging way to take glamping to the next level.

Set up a fancy eating area and create eating stations

If you’re cooking fancy foods, then you will also need a fancy dining area to match with them. A glamping experience always entails going the exra mile with food and cuisine.

By this, you can set up your chairs, tables, cups, and cooler box with your favorite beverages in a designated area. Putting up signs for juice stations, s’mores stations, and a snacks station if you’re feeling fancy. String lights can be used to create a warm atmosphere in this space.

Make a cozy bedding

Glamping is truly defined by having a lovely, comfortable bed to sleep in at the end of the day.

Instead of a sleeping bag, use a cozy sleeping or air mattress with a thick insulating layer, soft bed sheets, a blanket, and a plethora of pillows to mimic your bed at home. To make it more relaxing, make a hammock for your afternoon rest or simply a spot to read a book.

Accessorise your tent

It’s a good idea to add touches of home into your tent. You can bring in your favorite succulent, or you can add a poster to your wall. This is a great opportunity to be inventive and creative.

There’s never a better feeling than designing your tent to create a homey vibe. Adding in colorful rugs, a small mirror, and other aesthetic elements to make the experience more luxurious should be considered.

Set up a living room

One of the joys of glamping is that you can do whatever you want. Setting up a living room may seem impossible when it comes to traditional camping, but in glamping, nothing is stopping you from doing it. You can bring as many tables and chairs as you can to make the most out of this experience.

Create handwashing stations

With everything else upgraded, hygiene should be too.  A handwashing station with water from a portable sink or water jug, soap, sanitizers, clean towels, and even antibacterial wipes is the ideal solution for this.

12v power and accessories

There is a large and growing number of appliances and other creature comforts you can get and use in camping situations. To enable this you will need a portable power station or battery box, along with solar panels and maybe even generator to power the battery.

10 things you should have for your glamping experience

Fancy food and drinks

There are certain glamping sites located far from restaurants or grocery stores. Thus, you might need to bring your own food.

Besides, it’s a great idea to have some of your favorite foods roast over the fire or cook on the grill. Bringing a cooler to store ingredients is also beneficial. This is the best time to get creative with food and try new recipes the entire family can enjoy.

Sun protection

When camping out in the sun, sunscreen is essential. Because the sun’s UV rays can travel through light clothing, sunscreen should be applied all over the body. An SPF of at least 30 will suffice. But the higher the SPF protection, the better.

A nice water bottle

It is critical to stay hydrated. It’s never a bad idea to invest in a nice water bottle. A reusable water bottle can help you save money, and a high-quality one can keep your drinks safe inside. Because the woods aren’t the best areas to find clean, drinkable water, carrying a water bottle will ensure that you have water whenever you need it.

Your favorite book

With limited access to technology and electricity, this is the best time to read a book. Glamping is one of the best ways to limit yourself from social media and other distractions.

High-quality camera

Glamping isn’t complete without a camera. This is the best, and probably the only tool that can freeze moments in time, so you will be able to relive those memories someday. Your pictures are proof that you, indeed, had a memorable glamping experience.

Your glamping clothes and accessories

Glamping in luxury also means glamping with style. You can bring your high-end clothing and accessories to upgrade your glamping experience but it is also important to pack clothes as if you are camping.

That means anticipating unexpected weather conditions and packing appropriate clothing that can protect you against any weather events.

Sunglasses and hats

This is a vacation and these are the best accessories to make it a comfortable one. Regardless of the glamping itinerary, it’s always better to carry around sunglasses and hats. These are not only for aesthetic and style, but it’s also for protection.

Blankets and pillows

Create a homey vibe and enjoy a comfortable sleep by bringing extra blankets and pillows for your bed. One of the highlights of glamping is being able to have a good night’s sleep by upgrading your bed, as opposed to traditional camping.

Headphones or earphones / Speakers

Music is one way to lighten up a mood. Bringing headphones or Bluetooth speakers can make any glamping experience lively. You can sing songs at the campfire with the family or just listen to music by yourself while marveling at nature’s beauty. There is so much that can be done and music is one of the finest ways to enjoy a glamping trip.

Smartphone

While this is the best time to enjoy nature and limit gadget exposure, smartphones should nonetheless be brought as this can be used for emergencies. You can also make use of its features such as the flashlight, clock, camera, and many others.

Do not forget to bring these essentials!

First aid kit

Health and safety must always be prioritized. A first-aid kit is essential, especially if you’re camping and don’t have quick access to clinics. In the wilderness, anything may happen, and having a first-aid kit on hand could save your life.

Hygiene kit

Personal hygiene is limited when there is limited access to water during every glamping trip. Carrying hygiene kits should consist of at least antibacterial wipes, deodorant, toothbrush and toothpaste, soap, and other things you may want to add.

Fancy cooking utensils and cookware

Cooking around the campfire, enjoying s’mores and other must-try camping meals is impossible to do without kitchenware. Food is essential for a worthwhile glamping trip so it is important not to forget your cooking utensils.

Storage

It’s important to remain organized regardless of camping and glamping. When compared to typical camping, glamping is a luxury, which means you’ll have more on your plate.

It is critical to have storage boxes with you to arrange and categorize your belongings. This will make it easy to locate them when needed and would make cleanup much easier, saving you more time.

Your adventurous self

Most people go glamping to get away from tall buildings, pollution, and noise. This is the best time to explore nature.

To make the most out of a glamping trip, try things that you’ve never done before, get creative, and always remember to have fun.

Take advantage of the opportunity and enjoy the adventure because this isn’t something you get to do every day.
